It is the brainchild of Neil Jhaveri, a former Apple engineer who worked on the companys own Mail app.

Theres no tortuous wait for the software to index your email before it can be searched, it just works.

Results appear as you type, and while it would be handy to have advanced search operators - such as the ability to find emails with attachments - its generally much quicker to use Mimestream to find messages than Mail (which often ponders before showing the full body of a search result) or Outlook (which is sometimes wonderfully efficient and at others times takes a week to find the mail youre hunting for).

Outlook, on the other hand, is close to being the top resource hog.

There arent tons of icons, like there are in Outlook, and theres barely a splash of color anywhere.

Everything is simple, business-like, and geared to getting stuff done quickly, which is fine by me: the less time I spend dealing with my inbox, the better.

There are no CC or BCC fields - you have to press a button if you want those to appear.

The default labels of Gmail and GSuite for my two accounts arent particularly helpful.

Instead of monetizing your e-mail data for advertising or market research purposes, Mimestream generates revenue by charging for software licenses, the companys FAQ reads.

Whether they will offer the same snappy performance as the Gmail accounts awaits to be seen, but Im looking forward to finding out.
